South Korean pop group TWICE met with the local media at a press conference last week.

The nine-member unit was in town for their first concert ‘TWICELAND – The Opening in Singapore’ at The Star Theatre on Saturday (April 29).

Consisting of members Momo, Sana, Jeongyeon, Jihyo, Mina, Nayeon, Dahyun, Tzuyu, and Chaeyoung, TWICE has dominated music charts and achieved major success over the past two years with cheery, upbeat hits like ‘Knock Knock’ and ‘TT’.

The infectious single ‘Cheer Up’ from their second mini-album Page Two also won Song of the Year at 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

Read on as we share the six things we learned about TWICE at their first press conference in Singapore.

‘One in a Million’ is TWICE’s favourite song to perform

“Our song ‘One in a Million’ is dedicated to our fans. Whenever we sing it, we can see fans cheering for us. We receive a lot of good energy from that so that is one of our favourite songs to perform.”

They are honoured to rank third on Forbes’ Most Influential Celebrities in Korea

“We are incredibly honoured to receive the title. We were able to achieve that because of the love and support that we have received from our fans. We will work harder to create better songs and performances in the future.”

Every TWICE member is unique

“We have this high and bright energy that is unique to TWICE. Each member is unique, and we are very natural on stage. We always feel like we are just being ourselves. Our fans love this side of us, and that appeals to the mass audience.”

They cheer one another up by dancing

“We have a mirror ball in our house. We will switch it on and dance to the music. That is usually how we cheer ourselves up. On regular days, we also like to have supper together. We will order some food and chit chat.”

Their happiest moment in 2017? Meeting with fans from all over the world.

“This year, we were able to travel to other countries like Thailand and Singapore. We are very happy to meet with fans from abroad. There were also a lot of other happy memories, like when we won Song of the Year.”
